Following the recent consensus election conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirants for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, which took place on 29 May 2026 in accordance with the electoral laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we wish to state the following:
Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika emerged as the duly elected consensus candidate for the constituency. His candidature was subsequently endorsed by the 22 ward chairmen of the NDC across AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency.
In light of this, we call upon the leadership of the NDC to act in the best interest of peace, unity, and the party’s vast membership. It is further important to note that Hon. Obika won in all 22 wards during the primary election, and we possess video evidence of the entire process across the constituency.
Hon. Obika remains the only candidate with the strong grassroots influence, structure, and popular support necessary to secure victory for the party in the Federal Capital Territory. We therefore urge the NDC leadership not to replace Hon. Obika—the rightful winner of the consensus election—with any individual who did not participate in either the primary or consensus elections, lacks any visible structure on the ground, and remains unknown to the party membership at the grassroots level.
Hon. Obika is the undisputed winner of the consensus election and must not be denied the party’s ticket, as his candidacy guarantees a resounding victory for the NDC in the FCT.
