  • Press Release: Hon Joshua Chinedu Obika Appeal To His Supporters To Remain Calm & Peaceful As They Await Official Publication Of Candidates By The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and INEC

The Member Representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, has issued a press statement appealing to his supporters and constituents to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding as they await the official publication of candidates by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Hon. Obika noted that the NDC did not conduct party primaries in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), leaving consensus as the only viable option under the Electoral Act. He reaffirmed that the electoral law explicitly recognizes only two methods for nominating candidates: direct primaries and consensus. Consequently, he stands as the duly adopted consensus candidate for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency.

“I urge my dear supporters and all constituents to remain tranquil and refrain from any unlawful conduct. The NDC has no other lawful path but to uphold consensus, and I am that consensus candidate. Our great party must abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act,” Hon. Obika stated.

He further pleaded with his supporters to continue their unwavering support for the party and its Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates; His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi and Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso.

However, Hon. Obika warned that should the NDC fail to follow the stipulated legal framework, he would explore every lawful avenue to reclaim his mandate. “If the party disregards the clear provisions of our electoral law, I will leave no stone unturned in using all legal means to ensure justice prevails,” he added.

AMAC/Bwari is OK!
