The Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, was a distinguished guest and participant at the Iriji (New Yam) Cultural Festival, celebrating the rich heritage of the Ndigbo community in the Federal Capital Territory.
In his address, Hon. Obika commended the Igbo community for their remarkable unity and immense contributions to the economic advancement and development of both the FCT and the nation at large.
Reflecting on the significance of the festival, Hon. Obika stated, “Iriji is our ancient cultural heritage, a profound ceremony through which we give thanks for a bountiful harvest and the blessings of our farm produce, especially the yam. It is a celebration of abundance, resilience, and gratitude that resonates with our shared human experience.
He concluded with a message of national unity, saying, “May God bless the Igbo tradition, and all traditions that contribute positively to the rich cultural tapestry and socio-cultural benefits of our great country, Nigeria.
The event served as a powerful display of cultural pride and intercultural harmony within the nation’s capital.
