Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, the member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, visited the Karu Bridge today, the site of a tragic accident that claimed numerous lives on Wednesday, 19th March 2025. He was accompanied by members of the House Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, led by its Chairman, Hon. Fredrick Agbedi, as well as the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu.
During the visit, Hon. Obika expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and emphasized the need for immediate measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. He announced plans to implement strict laws regulating the movement of heavy-duty vehicles within the FCT, particularly during certain hours, to enhance safety. He also warned that severe consequences would be imposed on those who violate the forthcoming bye-laws set by AMAC.
Hon. Obika took a moment to extend his condolences to the families of the victims, offering prayers for strength and comfort as they cope with the irreplaceable loss of their loved ones. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing safety concerns and ensuring the well-being of residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
