The event, which took place at the National Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, served as a poignant gathering for the nation’s political leadership to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of Chief Anaekwe, who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives during the Third Republic (1992-1993).
The atmosphere was one of profound reflection and respect, as eminent personalities from across the political landscape shared heartfelt eulogies and reminiscences. The late Speaker was remembered for his pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey and his steadfast leadership during a critical period in the nation’s history.
Hon. Obika attended the ceremony alongside a broad assembly of the nation’s leaders, demonstrating the high regard in which the late Speaker is held. The gathering was a testament to Chief Anaekwe’s cross-generational impact, bringing together, Serving members of the National Assembly from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, Former members of the National Assembly who served during the Third Republic, Top government functionaries from both past and present administrations.
