The Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, attended a Town Hall Meeting organized by the Labour Party (LP) FCT South-South Geopolitical Zone at the Party’s National Headquarters in Utako, Abuja.
In his address, Hon. Obika commended the South-South Zone for its exceptional mobilizing capacity, emphasizing the region’s unique significance to Nigeria. He noted that the South-South holds a special place in the nation’s economy as the primary source of Nigeria’s oil revenue, which remains the backbone of the country’s economic stability.
Hon. Obika praised the zone for its critical contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth.
He further highlighted that with the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, hailing from the South-South, the zone’s mobilizing efforts within the FCT should naturally surpass those of other geopolitical zones in the capital.
Hon. Obika appealed to all geopolitical zones in the FCT to intensify grassroots mobilization for the Labour Party, emphasizing that LP is the only party “that has the interest of every well meaning Nigerian at heart. With the upcoming FCT Area Council Elections, he urged members to recruit new supporters and ensure that residents vote en masse for Labour Party candidates in the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections across all six area councils.
Demonstrating Commitment to South-South, the lawmaker highlighted his personal dedication to the region, revealing that the highest-ranking position in his office, Senior Legislative Assistant (SLA) is held by Engr. Livingston Aminu, a South-South native. “Engr. Aminu has been my trusted associate for over 25 years,” Hon. Obika shared. Beginning as my secretary during my tenure as Councillor for Gwarimpa Ward in AMAC back in 1999.
The lawmaker specially commended the LP FCT South-South Chairman, Engr. Edward O. Akhigbe, for his exemplary leadership and selfless service in strengthening the party’s presence in the FCT.
In a show of commitment, Hon. Obika provided substantial financial support to the South-South FCT Labour Party during the meeting. He pledged continued assistance and reaffirmed his unwavering accessibility to the party’s stakeholders.
