The Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, was a distinguished guest and keynote speaker at the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Security Summit, hosted by the Utako Division.
In his address, Hon. Obika underscored the critical importance of robust funding for security operations within the Federal Capital Territory. He highlighted his proactive legislative work, specifically the proposed bill for the establishment of an FCT Security Trust Fund, designed to create a sustainable financial framework for enhancing security infrastructure and capabilities.
Emphasizing that “security is a collective responsibility,” the Honourable Member called for a collaborative, all-hands-on-deck approach to ensure a well-secured FCT for all residents.
Furthermore, Hon. Obika revealed that he has formally communicated with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, proposing the FCT as a pilot zone for the full implementation of Community Policing. This initiative aims to integrate local knowledge and community participation into the security architecture for more effective and grassroots-driven policing.
In his closing remarks, he commended the organizers of the PCRC Summit for convening the timely event, noting that it addresses paramount security concerns at a critical period when the FCT and the nation at large require significant bolstering of safety measures.
